Hilton Head’s most celebrated golf and leisure retreat – announces its Harbour Town Clubhouse has been named “New Public Clubhouse of the Year” by Golf Inc. magazine.
For more than 20 years, Golf Inc. has annually honored the premier new clubhouse designs. Nine projects earned scores high enough to be honored in this year’s competition. Harbour Town Clubhouse’s winning selection in the public category was announced in the just-released July / August issue. The clubhouse opened to rave reviews last March just prior to the 2015 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.
The 44,000-square-foot multi-use structure heightens the already memorable Harbour Town Golf Links experience for resort guests, members and touring professionals. Most notable is a dramatic gallery showcasing the rich RBC Heritage tournament history and past champions which include Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Davis Love III.
Additional highlights include a comfortable living room lounge, Links – a first-class American grill with indoor / outdoor seating and sweeping golf course views, signature pro shop and retail display, wrap-around terraces with covered porches, state-of-the-art 4,000-square-foot locker room suited to meet the needs of world-class professionals and everyday players alike, and the Heritage Room – an elegant 2,200-square-foot banquet and event room on the top floor.
The clubhouse interior presents an inviting, open layout accented by appealing nuances and touches including wood flooring from reclaimed 18-inch white oak planks as well as refined crown molding throughout the building. The ambiance reflects the Lowcountry lifestyle at its best.
“Our magnificent clubhouse has given us a world-class facility to match the coveted experience of playing Harbour Town Golf Links,” says Cary Corbitt, Vice President of Sports & Operations. “We’re honored to be named ‘New Public Clubhouse of the Year’ as we seek to provide our members and guests with the finest amenities possible.”
The resort’s Plantation Golf Club was named “New Clubhouse of the Year” by Golf Inc. in 2015. The 23,000-square-foot facility services two layouts: Heron Point by Pete Dye as well as the new Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III course opening this Oct. Its amenities include an expansive pro shop; “Live Oak” bar and grill featuring Lowcountry cuisine; 2,000 square feet of event space; and spacious men’s and women’s locker rooms. It is also home to the resort’s premier Golf Learning Center, directed by acclaimed golf instructor Tim Cooke.
