If you’re like most homeowners, your hallways aren’t used for much more than hanging photos or space for a rug. However, these small spaces have a lot more potential. Here are a few ways you can get more from your hallways, and create more space in your home.
Hang a mirror or two. Adding a large mirror in your hallway will open up your space, create more light, and offer ample room for reflection.
Add some cabinets. If your hallway is wide enough, consider adding some wall-mounted cabinets. Cabinets on the lower half of your wall near the floor will allow for more storage space and create a nice ledge for books, lamps, photos, and tasteful decor.
Try built-in shelves. If you have a family full of book worms, consider installing floor-to-ceiling built-in shelves or cubbies for books to create an in-home library.
Install a hall closet. If you have the budget and enough space behind the wall, hire a contractor to install a closet in your hallway. Maybe extend the closet space to include the entire length of your wall. Add sliding mirrored doors to fill the space with light.
