The Town of Hilton Head Island just renewed their National Weather Service’s StormReady recognition and will be a StormReady reconignized community through July 2021. Hilton Head Island first received it’s StormReady designation in July of 2015. The StormReady program encourages communities to take a new, proactive approach to improving local hazardous weather operations by providing emergency managers with clear-cut guidelines on how to improve their hazardous weather operations.
To be officially StormReady, Hilton Head Island has…
- Established
a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center
- Provide more than one way to receive severe weather warnings and forecasts and to alert the public.
- Has systems in place that monitors weather conditions locally.
- Provides community seminars to promote the importance of public readiness.
- Developed a formal hazardous weather plan, which includes training severe weather spotters and holding emergency exercises.
By being StormReady, Hilton Head Island is taking action and prepare to save lives due to severe weather through advanced planning, education and awareness.
If you want to make a little piece of The Island your own, you need more than just a road map and a REALTOR. You need a partner who can make things happen.
