Sergeant Jasper Park, located in Jasper County, encompasses 321 acres of pine wetland providing a favorable habitat for a variety of waterfowl, plant life and migratory birds. The area is rich in American history. It served as battle sites for the Cusabo Indians, colonial-era turbulence, and a Civil War battle where Union troops trampled the Confederates after their seizure of Savannah, Georgia.
The park offers day use amenities including access to several small stocked fishing lakes, canoe & kayak rentals, interpretative nature trails and a park club house with a spacious banquet room, lake-side deck and the office of the park ranger. There is also a children’s playground, elevated boardwalks, hiking/jogging/biking trails, picnic shelters, and even campgrounds for the local Boy Scouts. If you are a fan of disc golf, the park is also home to its own disc golf course called “The Sarge.”
The park is well kept and has a full-time park ranger that lives on the grounds! Facilities can be rented and this park is great for a nice walk, bike ride or even a whole day getaway with family and friends.
