200 More Hotel Rooms Coming to Hilton Head Island
Anyone remember that Old Motel 6 that was mid Island near the Hilton Head Diner, where the old Ronnie’s Bakery used to be? You know, the one that was demolished several years ago and now has a bare empty lot at 1 Marina Side Drive? Well, we have some news on this… There has been talk of a proposed project that would add a 99 room, four-story Hilton Home2 Suites Hotel, a four-story 96 room Marriott SpringHill Suites, and a restaurant. That’s almost 200 new hotel rooms that may soon be added to Hilton Head Island.
The plans for the hotels and restaurant were proposed in a Town of Hilton Head pre-application meeting on Monday, September 14, 2015. The development will have three phases of construction: first, the Home2 Suites, then the SpringHill Suites, and last but certainly not least, the new restaurant. Both hotels will be about 56,000 square feet and the restaurant is proposed to be 2,000 square feet.
The Home2 Suites was added in 2009 to the Hilton Hotel portfolio, and offers a mid-tier, extended-stay experience. The SpringHill Suites is Marriott’s upper-moderate-priced hotel, similar to the one on South Forest Beach Drive on South End of Hilton Head.
